Still having some
pretty nice weather with no snow in sight for a while. The
last I heard, "maybe" Christmas Eve or Christmas Day there
might be some flurries around. Come on, kids, let Santa know
you want snow so he can deliver your presents on Christmas.
Just so we don't get "dumped" on and no one can go anywhere.
The temperatures in the 40's the past few days have been
great, but "must it come to an end?"
Leo McDonald, Poconos, spent the weekend with his
sister, Kitty Maximiak.
Sympathy from the community to Emily Goers and the
Lukachik families on the passing of her husband, Charlie, on
Friday. Funeral was held on Tuesday, with burial at SS Peter
& Paul Byzantine Cemetery.
I hope all of you have your Christmas shopping done.
Now, it's the wrapping and then going to "Grandma's" house to
enjoy the day with family and friends.
Birthday wishes to Steve Gulick and Rose Gardner who
both celebrate on the 22nd. Hope you both have a nice day.
Not much to report right now. There will be more after
the Christmas holidays, I'm sure. This is the last Sully for
this year. I'd like to wish the Shoemaker family and all the
Sully staff a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Also,
to all of you who have read my column all year and the
comments, news articles and compliments I have received.
Thank you. Hope you all have a nice Holiday and a great New
Year 2007.
That's it. Enjoy your week, whatever you plan to do.
Get that last minute shopping done. Stay safe and take it
easy over the Christmas and New Year holidays. Have news call
me at 928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at
uvbob@epix.net. I'll see that it's in for the first issue
of the New Year. I'll be here next time.
December 14, 2006 Issue
We sure are getting some nice weather and it's to stay around
for a while. That's fine with me. All we need is a little
snow for Santa on Christmas Eve. So, all you boys and girls
better be nice and get your list to Santa so he knows what to
bring. I've sent mine and hopefully he'll take care of it.
The new Lopez website went on line on 5 November. Since
then the site received 14,463 requests from 587 different
computers. Not bad for only 35 days. Check it out at
www.lopezpa.com. If you'd like to share a photo that we
may borrow to put on or write an article of something of
interest to you, please feel free to do so. Many new things
will be added over the winter months.
Jerry and Sylvia Dempsey, Dover, DE, spent a few
pre-holiday Christmas days with her mother, Mrs. Sophie
Bundle. They also visited relatives in Dushore while they
were here. All had a nice visit together.
Tony, Patti and Anthony Sneidar, Philadelphia, and their
friend, Joel, VA, spent a few days at the Sneidar home on
Church Street. Did some hunting but had no luck this time.
They also celebrated Tony's birthday while here. Hope it was
nice.
Happy Birthday to Noah Brown who will be 7 on the 14th;
Alice Popso, Alyssa Pequignot (9) and John Serafini all
celebrate on the 20th. Hope you all have a great day.
What nice weather for folks to get out and do that last
minute shopping or get those decorations put up. Are we going
to be "in for it" later, as someone mentioned. Sure hope
not. We kept hearing a mild winter and so far that's what it
has been. I also heard "early" Spring. We'll see.
Belated happy birthday to former Lopez resident Pete
Hubiak. Pete turned 95 on December 7 and says hello to all,
especially brother, John, and wife, Rose. He has his garlic
planted and hopes to see everyone at the 2007 Lopez Old Home
Days. (From Bill and Irene Herold.) Congratulations on 95
years and many more. That's it for now. Enjoy your
week, whatever your plans. Take advantage of the sunshine and
warm weather. Have news call me at (570) 928-9238, mail me,
see me, or e-mail me at
uvbob@epix.net. I'll put your article in for you. I'll
be here next time.
December 8, 2006 Issue
Well, didn't we get some cold, windy weather!! I guess we
got spoiled and just weren't ready for it. But.......I see
there is no major snow fall coming for quite some time yet.
Just need a little snow for Santa to make his rounds on his
sleigh. All you little boys and girls....you got your "wish"
list sent to Santa and he'll be checking to see if you've been
"naughty or nice". Won't be long and you'll hear the reindeer
on the roof bringing your presents.
Matt Dayton and his brothers, Dorothy, NJ, are spending
some time at his cabin on Route 487 to do some hunting. Said
he hasn't gotten anything yet. He's the "cook" for the crew.
His wife was up over the Thanksgiving holiday and Matt
prepared the "big" meal that day also. Happy Birthday to
Bernie Popso on the 8th; Aaron Risser on the 9th; Andrea (Matychak)
Anderson on the 12th and Dylan Amon on the 13th. Hope you all
have a nice day.
Dick Bradshaw, West Chester, spent a few days at his home
on Church Street and did some hunting and did bag his buck.
The Weisbrod family had good luck hunting this year as
Gene, young Gene, and Nick all got a deer. They'll have meat
for the winter.
I guess most of the hunters have left their cabins and
homes around town. A lot just come for the first three days,
get lucky and go home. With the warm weather, they had to get
the meat to the butcher before it spoiled. I don't know how
many lucky hunters there were, but I'm sure there were a few.
Civic meetings will not be held during the winter months.
Next Civic meeting will be held in April 2007, unless a
special meeting is called by the President.
Activities are winding down in Sullivan County now with the
cold weather upon us. I'm sure there will still be a few
"winter" type things going on and they'll be published in the
Sully so watch for them there.
Not too much longer will we be taking orders for the 2007
Lopez mug. If you're interested, please let us know at the
phone number or address below. We've had a good response so
far. I can't reserve one if I don't have your name down, so do
get in touch.
Guess that's it for now. You can still enjoy your week,
whatever your plans, just bundle up a little more. Have news
call me at (570) 928-9238, mail me at PO Box 224, Lopez, PA
18628; see me or e-mail me at uvbob@epix.net. I'll put your
news in. I'll be here next time.
November 30, 2006 Issue
Sure can't beat this weather for the end
of November. Guess we have to take advantage as the weekend
is to turn cold and some of that "white stuff" may come
down. With the weather so nice, many folks got their
Christmas decorations up and they do look nice. Now, they
have to wait for Santa to make that special visit.
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Kulsicavage, Mt. Pleasant, SC, and
Joseph Kulsicavage, Franconia, spent the Thanksgiving holiday
with their mother, Mrs. Theresa Kulsicavage.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Anderson, Denver, Tuesday and Wednesday
of Thanksgiving week with her mother, Mrs. Katherine Matychak.
They also visited her Aunt Alice Dworsky.
Bob and JoAnn McGuire enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with
Bob, Jr., Kim and Tyler McGuire at their home in Harvey's
Lake. They did all the cooking and prepared a delicious meal,
complete with pumpkin pie. Was a nice time out.
Spending Thanksgiving time with Mrs. Kitty Maximiak
included daughter, Mary and Julio Santiago and her kids, Kyra,
Keene and Quinn, Jackson, NJ; Sr Ella Mae McDonald, Bristol,
RI, and Leo McDonald, Poconos. All had a nice time together.
John and JoAnn McDonald also visited later in the day.
Sympathy from the community to Anna McHenry family,
relatives, and friends on the passing of her son, Art Rohe,
early Sunday morning from an auto accident. Our thoughts and
prayers are with you at this difficult time.
Many cabins and homes are being occupied during the
first few days of deer season. The Tony Sneidar home, the Gus
Tamburro home, the Bob Main home, and the Dick Bradshaw home,
all on Church Street, have hunters in. Main Street places,
Flat Street and Lesterville all have cabins and homes
occupied. Roy Pirritano and grandson, Adam Aharonian are at
their place on Dutch Mountain to do some hunting. Don't know
who or how many got deer yet, but will probably see pictures
in the paper.
Jim and Barbara Craig, Media, enjoyed the holiday at
their home on Church Street. They said the weather was just
"super".
Birthday wishes go out to Kassidy Brown on the 30th;
Cedar Moon McCusker on the 3rd of December; Frank Peworchik on
the 4th; Rev Mother Christophora and Elexus Pequignot, both on
the 6th. Hope you all have a nice day.
That's it for now. Enjoy your week; still time before
the snow flies to get out and about. Have news call me at
928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at
uvbob@epix.net. I'll put it in for you. I'll
be here next time.

Issue
Still
having some not too bad weather even if it's a little cloudy.
Don't know if the bear hunters or deer hunters will like that
there's no snow to track their game, but it's fine with me.
Mrs. Kitty Maximiak spent a couple days recently with
Midge Maximiak in Bloomsburg. Kitty and Midge's children and
grandchildren helped Midge celebrate her birthday with an
enjoyable dinner at Applebee's.
Mrs. Katherine Matychak spent a few days last week with
her son V Rev Fr Andrew (Gary) and Georgette Matychak in
Altoona. Rev Mother Christophora, Ellwood City, was also
there. Fr Andrew serves three churches and they all
celebrated their 90th anniversaries last weekend. They
included St. Peter & Paul in Altoona; St. Mary's Holy
Assumption in Ganister; and Holy Ascension in Colver. The
services were beautiful and the three churches attended each
others services. A big banquet was held on Sunday in Altoona,
where Fr. Andrew and Mother Christophora each gave a little
talk. From Altoona, Katherine went to the Orthodox Monastery
in Ellwood City to spend a few days there. She was busy doing
a lot of her special bread, cake and pie baking. She had such
an enjoyable time. Mother Barbara brought her home on Friday
and she will stay over Thanksgiving and return to the
Monastery on Friday.
Jim and Barbara Craig, Media, are spending the
Thanksgiving holiday at their home on Church Street.
Guess that's the news. Enjoy your week. I hope you all
have a super Thanksgiving with family and friends. Have news
call me at 928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at
uvbob@epix.net. I'll put it in for you. I'll be here next
time.
November 16, 2006 Issue
We sure can't complain
about our weather; it's been great!! I know eventually we
have to have some white stuff, but this would suit me for a
while yet.
Happy Birthday to
Monica Black on the 16th; Mike McDonald on the 19th; and
Jaeden Patson will be 4 on the 20th. Hope you all have a nice
day.
I'd like to thank my
neighbors and friends for their concern, help, and care during
my hospital stay and since my return home. I'm much better
and do appreciate all that's being done for me.
Julio and Mary
Santiago, Jackson, NJ, along with their friend, Wendell, spent
a recent weekend at their place, Tall Tale Acres, Troy. They
also visited her mother, Kitty Maximiak, while they were here.
Dick and Adel Bradshaw,
West Chester, spent the weekend at their home on Church
Street.
St. Francis Church
Bazaar was held on Sunday at the hall with many folks there to
enjoy all that was offered.
Not much to write about
this week. Things in the County are winding down.
Civic meeting will be
Tuesday, the 21st, at the Pavilion.
That's the news for
now. Enjoy your week. We are to get rain, but it's to be
warm, so that sounds good to me. Have news call me at
928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at uvbob@epix.net.
I'll get it in for you. Have a good day and I'll be here next
time.
November 9, 2006 Issue
How do you like this weather? It's
pretty nice and maybe it will stay around for a while. Almost
makes you think it's time to plant the onions and garlic. I
guess we'll eventually get that "white" stuff, but it's ok if
it doesn't come too soon.
Not much going on even with the nice weather. Seems as
activities in the County are pretty much over with. I've still
seen a couple of geese fly over. They must have been staying
someplace and lost track of time.
The new Lopez website is on line now. Take a look. Go to
www.lopezpa.com. There are several areas that have to be
finished and more to be added, and there's a bug or two
depending on your browser, but there is lots to see. Hope you
like it. Comments or questions are welcome, feel free to
contact Bob McGuire at address below.
Happy Anniversary to V Rev Gary and Georgette Matychak as
they celebrate 33 years on the 10th. Anniversary wishes also
go to Leroy and Loretta Weidner as they celebrate 59 years on
the 15th. Time sure flies by. Congratulations and many more to
these fine folks.
Tyler McGuire says Happy Birthday to Uncle "B" on the
11th. He had fun at his house on Sunday, especially the ride.
He also went to the pond with Gramma to feed the fish. Guess
it was too cold as there were none around.
Hope you all got out to vote on Tuesday. If not, you have
no reason to complain. Your vote may have made a difference.
It's an honor and a freedom that we have and should use.
Next Civic meeting will be on Tuesday, the 21st, 7 p.m.
at the Pavilion.
Jim and Barbara Craig, Media, enjoyed a really nice couple of
days over the weekend at their home on Church Street.
Guess that's it for now. Enjoy this beautiful week's
weather. Get out and smell the fresh air; take a walk; just
get out; it will feel good. Have news call me at 928-9238;
mail me; see me; or e-mail me at uvbob@epix.net. I'll put it
in for you. I'll be here next time.
November 2, 2006 Issue
We sure had a few really nice days; this must be our Indian
Summer. Just wish it would stay around a while longer.
Sympathy from the community to the Romania family on
the passing of their mother, Mrs. Olga Romania, on the 28th.
Funeral was held on the 31st from St. Francis Church, Mildred,
with burial in SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Lopez. Such a
pleasant person to know and always a laugh and smile for all.
She will be missed.
The Civic Assoc. Halloween party was held on Sunday,
the 29th at the Pavilion. The judges picked the winners in
the different categories: The results are:

Refreshments and prizes were given out. Despite the
very cold, windy afternoon, we had a pretty good bunch of
trick or treaters that showed up. We thank everyone who
donated in any way to make the day fun for all. We look
forward to next year.
I see Scott Woodford, Windsor, NY, was in at the
family home on Main Street. Probably doing some last minute
lawn mowing before the snow flies.
Happy belated birthday to Leo McDonald who celebrated
on Tuesday, the 31st. Kitty tells me he's their "Halloween"
baby. Hope you had a good day.
More birthday wishes to Doc Shoemaker whose special
day is the 1st of November. If you see him around town, wish
him a happy day. Other birthdays include Tim Bullis on the
5th; Devon DeSanto (13) on the 6th; Terri Bullis and Jim
Yarnall both on the 7th; and Wilda (Wood) Paul on the 8th.
Hope you all have a nice day.
Next Civic meeting will be on Tuesday, the 9th, 7
p.m. at the Pavilion.
Congratulations Frank and Dean Romania on their
successful elk hunt in Colorado recently.
That's the news for this time. Enjoy your week,
whatever your plans. Looks like it may still be nice. Have
news call me at 928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at
uvbob@epix.net. I'll put
it in for you. I'll be here next time.
October 26, 2006 issue
Getting mighty cold out there. Had some
real frosty days. Guess we know what's on the way. The leaves
have all gone, especially with the wind we had for a couple
days. The geese are still flying South. There were a few
flurries flying around on Monday morning.
Joe Kulsicavage, Franconia, spent a few days visiting his
mother, Mrs. Theresa Kulsicavage. He enjoyed just resting and
relaxing while he was here.
Congratulations Todd and Kelly on the birth of their twin sons
on the 5th of October. Mitchell Thomas, 4 lb. 8 oz., and Jacob
Todd, 4 lb. 5 oz. were born at Arnot Ogden Hospital in Elmira,
NY. They are grandsons of Tom and Judy Travis and great
grandsons of Alma Stanton. Lots of luck with the new little
guys. They have a sister, Tianna, at home. They live in
Wyalusing and were former Lopez residents.
John and JoAnn McDonald spent a few days with John, Gretchen
and Aine Lee McDonald in Worthington, MA. They helped Aine
celebrate her 5th birthday while they were there.
Leo McDonald, Poconos, enjoyed the weekend with his sister,
Kitty Maximiak.
Barbara Craig, Media, spent a few days at her home on Church
Street. Husband, Jim, came up to spend the weekend. Barbara
always enjoys the Eagles Mere rummage sale and got a few
"nice" things.
Tony, Patti, and Anthony Sneidar; their friends, John, Joe,
and Dave, all from Philadelphia, spent a few days at the
Sneidar home on Church Street. Did some hunting while they
were here and Big John was the only lucky hunter.
Membership dues for the Civic Association are now due. See

Don't forget to set your clocks one hour back on Saturday
night. You'll get an extra hour of sleep when daylight savings
time ends.
That's the news. Enjoy your week. You may need your hat and
gloves to get out and about, but it may warm up some later in
the week. Have news call me at (570) 928-9238; mail me; see
me; or e-mail me at uvbob@epix.net and I'll get it in for you.
I'll be here next time.
October 19, 2006 issue
Well, we sure had frost on the
pumpkin for a few days last week. Sometimes the sun was out
and felt pretty good; other times it was miserable. The color
is about gone as well as the leaves on the trees. Guess you
know what that means. Hope you all got to enjoy some of the
many weekend activities that were held around the County.
Since I mentioned Mark last week, I
have to mention the other hard working guys who helped with "B'"s
roof project. They included Burkey, Dustin, Pop, Marty, Rick,
Jeff, Chico, Tim, JR, and Ty who was a great fire tender.
Other friends stopped by now and then to see the progress and
give words of encouragment. Thanks to all for a job well done.
Birthday wishes to Ted Hubiak on the
20th; and Aine Lee McDonald will be 5 on the 21st. Hope you
both have a great day.
Mr. and Mrs. Matt Dayton, Dorothy,

Still taking '07 mug orders. If
interested, contact Bob McGuire at the address or phone number
below.
Congratulations to Matt Beaver who
got not one, but two, doe during archery season. Showed up his
Dad........again. They did have a cousin hunting with them and
he had no luck, just harassed Ted back at the camp.
I see the Gus Tamburro home on
Church St. was occupied from Fri. until Monday. Some friends
were here to hunt, but don't know if they had any luck or not.
Muzzle loader hunting is also in now.

on Oct. 29 at the Pavilion at 4 p.m. Prizes and refreshments.

uvbob@epix.net.
October 5, 2006 Issue
Well, I think we're getting some
half decent weather. The week is supposed to be "nice", with
rain only on Wednesday. We'll see if Kurt Aaron is right with
his forecast. We did have 27 degrees on Friday morning. Tom
Clark goofed that up for here. He said the low would be 40
degrees and he didn't see any frost. Well, we had quite a
frost with that low temperature. I did hear some gees go over
on Monday, but couldn't find them. There will probably be a
lot more in the days to come.
Evalyn Lansberry, Lebanon, is spending some time at her
home on Main Street. Spending the weekend was her daughter,
Kathryn and Randy Lebo, Lebanon; Kim and Scott Kugler and some
friends. They all had a nice time.
John and JoAnn McDonald spent a few days with John and
Gretchen McDonald, Worthington, MA. They took Aine Lee home
after she spent a week with them here. She had a super time.
Happy Birthday to Gwen Burke and Dylon Pequignot (4) who
both celebrate on the 7th. Also, to Irene Huray and Ryan
Weisbrod who special day is the 8th. Tianna Miller will be 7
on the 10th. Hope you all have a nice day.
Get well wishes to Rev Mother Christophora, Orthodox
Monastery, Ellwood City. She is recovering from recent surgery
and all her many relatives and friends wish her well and
getting better each day. She is the daughter of Mrs. Katherine
Matychak who spent some time with her at the Monastery, after
her surgery. She is in our thoughts and prayers.
Civic meeting Tuesday, 16 October, 7 p.m. Membership dues
being taken by Molly Johnson.
Looks like the colors here in town are reaching their
peak. Some are really so pretty; some a little more drab, but
not too bad. That's it for now. Enjoy your week; you still
have time to get out and enjoy the Fall air and the colors
before the frost really hits the pumpkins. Have news, call me
at 928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at uvbob@epix.net.
I'll put it in for you. I'll be here next time.
September 28, 2006 Issue
Still having some pretty nice weather
but did have 30 degrees two mornings in a row. It's nice when
it warms up during the day. I think the humming birds have
left; I don't see any at our feeder any more. Haven't seen
any geese flying South yet, and hope they don't go for a
while.
Don Lansberry, Lebanon, spent a few days at his home on
Main Street.
Dan and Ann Marie Kulsicavage, Pittsburgh, spent a
recent weekend with Mrs. Theresa Kulsicavage.
Mr. Bruin, the "big one" was seen around town last
week. He was seen on Main Street and then on Church Street,
just taking a nice, slow walk. Don't really know where he
ended up going.
Craig Germany, Wallingford, and a couple friends, were
here for the weekend at the Craig home on Church Street.
Miss Aine Lee McDonald, Worthington, MA, is spending her
vacation with her grand parents, John and JoAnn McDonald. She
is having a fun time visiting friends and relatives and seeing
"neat" places around Sullivan County.
Kitty Maximiak and her brother, Leo McDonald, Poconos,
spent the weekend in Riverside, RI, with their sister,
Lorraine and Jessie Perry. On Saturday they attended a nice
affair at Sr Ellamae McDonald's church in Bristol, RI. Also
there for this special occasion was Rose (McDonald) and Joe
Sbardella, Warren, RI, and Sr Ellamae's friend, Irene. There
were 425 people gathered there and they all said it was a
really nice time.
Happy Belated Birthday to JoAnn McDonald whose special
day was on the 19th. Hope you had a good day.
Don't forget Sunday, the 1st of October is the annual
Bull Roast at St. Vladimir's Hall in Lopez. Starts at noon,
with music from 3-7 p.m. Lots of good food, dancing and
entertainment.
Happy Birthday to Curt Schroeder on the 29th; and
Elizabeth Kapler will be 14 on the 1st of October. Have a
great day!
Next Civic meeting, Tuesday, 17 October, 7 p.m. at the
Pavilion.
Adel Bradshaw, West Chester, spent a few days at her
home on Church Street.
Hardly seems that September will be gone and October
here. The leaves are changing, a little early, and falling
off the trees. Summer went by pretty quickly and I hope our
winter is pretty mild this year.
Guess that's the news for now. Enjoy your week; there's
still going to be nice days ahead. Have something to add,
call me at 928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at
uvbob@epix.net. I'll put it in for you. I'll be here
next time.
September 21, 2006 Issue
Well, seems like I forgot
all about my news last week. Guess I was thinking I had sent
it and turns out I hadn't even typed it. Sorry about that but
here's the news now.
Happy Belated Anniversary to Mayor Gus and Edith
Tamburro, Marlton, NJ, and Jim and Barbara Craig, Media, who
both celebrated their 46th on the 10th. Hope you had a great
day. They both have homes on Church Street.
Mrs. Sharon Hartnett, Wilmington, DE, spent a few days
with Nan Fedrow in Dushore and they also visited Sophia Bundle
while she was here.
Those of you who were not able to attend the Civic
Association picnic missed a really nice time. As usual, the
food was excellent, the weather wasn't "all" that bad (a
little windy), and there was a nice crowd that gathered for
the day.
Bob and Tyler McGuire, Harvey's Lake, visited his
parents, Bob and JoAnn McGuire last Sunday. Had a nice time.
Jerry and Sylvia Dempsey, Dover, DE, are spending a few
days this week with her mother, Mrs. Sophia Bundle. They
visited Jerry's family in Dushore while they were here and
also with Nan Fedrow.
Barbara Craig, Media, spent a few days at her home on
Church Street. Also here with her were Susan Salimieri,
Dunedin, FL, formerly from Springfield, PA, and Tina Danese,
Drexel Hill. They had such a good time laughing, eating,
laughing, talking and playing cards. The women enjoyed their
stay here very much. Jim Craig was up for the weekend.
Happy Birthday wishes to Annaliese Froese who will be 7
on the 25th. Ted Beaver and Rosalie (Dinky) Burke both
celebrate on the 27th. Hope you all have a nice day.
Happy Anniversary to Jon-Paul and Jen Matychak as they
celebrate two years on the 25th. Celebrating their 9th
anniversary on the 27th is Chris and Michele Craig.
Congratulations and have a super day.
Next Civic meeting will be Tuesday, 17 October, 7 p.m.
at the Pavilion. Membership dues being taken. See Molly
Johnson.
The weather has been pretty nice the past few days. A
little cool in the morning, but warms up nicely. Supposed to
be some nice weather yet for a while and that's good to hear.
That other "stuff" will be here much too soon. I did see one
goose flying over the other day. Maybe it was lost. I saw 15
turkeys in the field. I guess the gardens are pretty much
done, as well as the flower beds. There were some pretty nice
vegetables and flowers this year. Can you believe it's
almost the end of September already.
Bob Main, Seneca Falls, NY, and Gary Main (forgot
where), spent the weekend at the Main Retreat on Church
Street. They were set up, along with Scot Main, as Tally-Ho
Trading post down at the Bowhunter's Festival, held at the
Forksville Fairgrounds. Was a nice weekend for the
festivities there.
Guess that's it for now. Enjoy your week, whatever
your plans. Get out and get some fresh air yet for a while.
Have news, call me at 928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me
at
uvbob@epix.net. I'll get it in for you. I'll be here
next time.
September 5, 2006 Issue
Well, we had kind of a rainy weekend, but not a total
disaster. And, we're getting more rain during the week. Hope
that means that we won't have any snow as there won't be any
water left to make the snow. How about that!!
Mrs. Marie (Slawta) Donnelly, Nichols, NY, visited on Sunday
with Mrs. Katherine Matychak and Mrs. Alice Dworsky.
Bill, Jeannie, and Scott Woodford, Windsor, NY, enjoyed the
Labor Day holiday at their home on Main Street. Scott was busy
with lawn mowing. All had a good time.
Don't forget Sunday, the 10th, the Civic picnic, 12:30 p.m. at
the Pavilion. Bring a dish to pass and table service. Meat and
drinks provided. This is a community picnic and also for those
who helped with Old Home Day, even if you live outside Lopez.
Hope to see you there.
Greg, Connie, Jeremy, Connor and Kylee Gustafson, Orange, CT,
spent Sunday visiting Mrs. Katherine Matychak and Mrs. Alice
Dworsky. All had a nice time together.
The annual Marek reunion was held on 20 August at the home of
Mr. Ferdie Marek. Thirty-seven family members from PA, OH, VA
and MD attended. The oldest present was Mrs. Mary Gavlick,
Lopez; the youngest was Abigail MacNiel, Falls Church, VA.
They all enjoyed games, nature walks, tractor rides and the
big event is always swimming in the creek. The Raymond Marek
family, Plains, had the most in attendance. Mr. Marek tells me
that in 11 years of reunions they have never had a down pour
of rain to dampen things. They may have had a shower or two,
but nothing so much as to not have the reunion. They all look
forward to next year.

too soon. Hopefully we'll have some nice weather for a time
