Well, we wanted rain and we sure are getting rain.  Now, if we'd get some
sunshine and warm weather, the gardens would do nicely.

Anthony Sneidar, Jr., Anthony Sneidar III,  Declan Fowler, and Sean
O'Connell, all from Philadelphia, spent Saturday at the Sneidar home.

Ted and  Ev Hubiak, Downingtown, and Marian Hubiak, Baltimore, MD,
went on a Carnival Cruise Line  where they met Ted and Ev's daughter and
Marian's granddaughter, Tina, a professional dancer  on the cruise line. They
went to Alaska and  stopped at  Ketchan,. Juneau, Skagway, Sitka,  and
Anchorage.   In Sitka, there is a  Russian Church they went in.  The stores
have anything you want to buy in Russian things.  They even had a Ben
Franklin store so Marian had to take a picture of that.  They also took a
helicopter ride to go ride the dog sleighs.  They all had a good time in
Alaska and enjoyed being with Tina as they hadn't seen her for six months.

Kitty Maximiak enjoyed some time recently with her daughter and family,
Julio and Mary Santiago, Kyra, Keene and Quinn Vinetelli, Jackson, NJ.
Kitty attended the grade school graduation of grandson, Keene.  When she
came home, Mary, Julio and Kyra came to spend the weekend with her.

Tyler McGuire, Harvey's Lake, spent some vacation time with us and
enjoyed feeding the fish at the pond, "skipping" stones and looking for
frogs and salamanders in the creek and playing in his sandbox.  Had
quite a nice time having him with us.

Adel Bradshaw, West Chester, spent a few days at her home on
Church Street.

on Church Street.  Barbara is looking forward to returning to spend more
 time here.

last week with his mother, Mrs. Katherine Matychak and also visited his

going on around the County that you may be able to attend.  Hopefully, the rain will be all
over and done with by the weekend so these things will take place.

That's it for now.  Enjoy your week, whatever you may do.  Might need your galoshes and
umbrella to go out and about in this soggy weather, but at least it isn't cold. Have news,

Sorry I didn't get my news in last week, so I'll do that now.  Let's just say I
was busy and on vacation as we had our grandson, Tyler, from Harvey's Lake
with us from Thursday to Thursday.  He's an active little five year old and kept
me going.  We had lots of fun together and he enjoyed feeding the fish at the
pond, "skipping" stones in the creek and just playing in the yard.  The weather
was a little cool and rained one day, but we still had fun.

       Written for last week:

Congratulations to Tanya Stasiak who was one of the graduates from SC High
School on the 9th.  Good luck in your endeavors.

The Neufer sisters, Nancy [Loporcaro], Barbara[Harvey], and Rose[Bizup] and
their husbands just returned from a fifteen day vacation touring the West----- Utah,
Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, & Colorado. A great time was had by all, packing in many
days of hiking, touring, picture taking, and of course eating. Only one sister had to
repack her suitcase in the middle of the airport because it was over weight, can you
guess which one?

Happy Birthday wishes to Marty Slocum who celebrated on the 16th; Mrs. Emily
(Bushofsky) Goers, mother of Roseanne Lukachik, who turned 90 years young on
the 19th.  Hope you had a happy day.

 over old times.

Irene Pequignot, Linden, spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Irene Huray.

Connie Hamilton, RN, Wilmington, DE, spent a few days with Barbara Craig at
her home on Church Street.  The ladies enjoyed shopping and just sitting on the porch
 to relax and visit.

so make arrangements to get your articles to him.

Now, I'll do my news for this week.

Our weather is finally turning rather nice.  Was a really nice weekend and was
warm (hot to some).  I won't say it's too hot as we've had cold weather too long.

Happy Birthday to Tina Burke on the 21st; Cindy Stavisky on the 23rd; and
Jeannie (Sarnosky) Woodford on the 24th.  Hope you all have a great day.

Hope all you Dad's had a really nice Father's Day with friends and loved ones.

We've seen lots of baby birds in nests being fed and then finally being able to
fly and go off on their own.

The Civic Association will again have a one day flea market at the Pavilion on
Saturday, 1 July, from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.  So, if you missed out, take a trip up and you
might find something you'll be interested in.  Food stand too.

Read above about the mugs and the Country Store.

That's about it.  Enjoy your week, whatever you plans.  The gardens and flowers
are looking so nice so get out and enjoy.  Have news mail me, call me at 928-9238,

Getting some pretty nice weather and sure hope it stays around for a while.
Don't forget the dumpster will be at the township shed on Saturday and the

Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Stop up and see if there's
something you might be
interested in.

Not a lot going on right now.  Folks are working in their gardens and
flower beds getting them ready for the summer season.

Alex Stavisky, Allenwood, spent some time with his daughter, Cindy,
in Orlando, FL.    Don't forget to reserve your 2006 mug which will depict
Dyer's store.  Anyone interested in the earlier mugs, 2001-2005, contact
Alex and he's going to see if he can get enough orders to have them
re-done for those of you who missed out.  There's no guarantee, but he'll
try.  You can contact Alex at astavisky@yahoo.com.   You can also
contact me at the info below.

I saw a flock of geese go North last week one day.  Guess they are
the stragglers or wanted to stay longer where it was warm.  Not too many
humming birds around right now.  Someone mentioned they may have
gotten caught in those hurricanes down South when they were migrating.
We do have a couple and plenty of other birds at the feeders.

Happy Birthday to Mayor of Marlton, NJ, and home-owner here in
town, Gus Tamburro, on the 10th.  Matt Dayton also celebrates his
birthday on the same day.  Hope you have an enjoyable day.

That's about all for now.  Enjoy your week, whatever you plan.  Get out
and about to some of the activities going on or just to take advantage of
the nice weather I hope we'll have.  Have news call me at 928-9238, mail
me, see me, or e-mail me at uvbob@epix.net.  I'll put your news in.  I'll be
here next time.

Jeepers!!  It's been COLD early in the morning.  Sure hope we're in for some warm weather and no frost soon.  We're sure due.  The flowers and trees are looking nice, but some do look like they got "nipped" with the frost.

May 17, 2006

Well, we're getting some much needed rain, but it could be warmer.  At least no frost first thing in the morning.  The flowers and trees are starting to look pretty nice.

Hope you all had a nice Mother's Day with loved ones and enjoyed the special time.  Among those who were able to spend some time here over the weekend included:   Andrea Anderson, Denver, with her mother, Katherine Matychak, and also visited Alice Dworsky; Evalyn Lansberry, Lebanon, spent a number of days here, just her with her dog;  Joe Kulsicavage, Franconia, spent the weekend with his mother, Theresa Kulsicavage.  Good to see him out and walking and he says he's feeling really good.  Irene Huray, Linden, spent Saturday with her mother, Irene Huray.  Jerry and Sylvia Dempsey, Dover, DE,

Windsor, NY, spent his birthday here at the family home on Main Street.

Sympathy from the community on the passing of Betty (Sheleman)

had a smile and kind word for everyone.  Her funeral was held on
Wednesday.  She will be missed.

both celebrate on the 19th; and to Susan (Pirritano) Aharonian whose
birthday is on the 24th.  Hope you all had a good day.

Tyler McGuire says Happy Anniversary to his Dad and Mom, Bob and
Kim, as they celebrate 7 years on the 22nd.  He hopes they have a super
day, especially with him helping to celebrate.

 May 6, 2006

I can't believe the cold mornings we've been having.  Some days seems like snow on the ground.  All last week it was in the 20's with a frost every morning.   It warms up some, but the wind is sometimes really rough and seems to go through a person.  Hopefully, we'll get some better weather soon.  Tom Clark says still cool for at least the next seven days.  We do need the rain and he says we may get some on Thursday.  That would really help the whole area
with watering gardens and especially with the threat of brush fires, etc.

Alex Stavisky says to reserve your 2006 mug now.  Still $20.  Contact him at astavisky@yahoo.com or you can contact me.  Also, if anyone wants to special order any old issues, he will try to put in a special order but no guarantees.  It will depend on response and supplier.  I know there were some that didn't get an earlier mug and were inquiring so if you want any of them, please let him know.

On Thursday, 4 May, we saw our humming birds return.  They were going to the same area where we always put the feeder.  We put the juice in and before long two were there feeding.  We'll probably get more as time goes by; last year we had eight.  Maybe that's a good sign.  The gold finches have also come back.

Josh Anderson, a student at Bucknell University, Lewisburg, spent last Monday to Wednesday with his grandmother, Mrs. Katherine Matychak.

Anthony Sneidar, Sr., Anthony Sneidar, Jr., Anthony Sneidar III, and their friend, Joe, all from Philadelphia spent a few days at their home on Church Street.  Came in to do some turkey hunting, but don't know if they were successful or not.

Civic Association meeting on Wednesday, 17 May, 7 p.m. at the Pavilion.  Flea Market on Saturday and Sunday, 10 and 11 June, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Come see what's for sale.  Have stuff to sell?  Bring it up, grab a table and see what you can do.

Happy Birthday to Tina Hubiak (24) and Scott Woodford who both celebrate on the 12th.  Special birthday wishes to my good friend, Cory McDonald, who will be 14 on the 15th; and Mrs. Della Kochubba celebrates this week also.  Hope you all have a great day.

Happy Anniversary to Steve and Julann (Popso) Rice as they celebrate on the 12th.  Congratulations and many more happy days.

Don't forget the Relay For Life is 19 and 20 May at the Forksville Fairgrounds, 3 p.m. to 3 p.m.  Lots of activities and fun for everyone and a great fund raiser for the Cancer Society.

I see the gardens and flower beds are starting to take shape and, hopefully, will be in full bloom soon.  If the frost stays away, there'll be some nice flowers and produce.  Really need those warm nights to get things going, and some rain to get them to grow.

That's the news for now.  Enjoy your week, whatever you may do.  Have news call me at 928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at uvbob@epix.net.  I'll put your news in.  I'll be here next time.

April 24, 2006

Well, we did get some much needed rain.  I heard on radio this afternoon that we may have snow showers on Wednesday.  I thought I heard wrong, but with the weather we've been having, anything is possible.  The sun does feel good, but the wind is too cold.   All the things that have started to bud will get frozen.

John, Gretchen and Aine Lee McDonald, Worthington, MA, spent Friday to Monday of Easter with his parents, John and JoAnn McDonald.  Joining them for Easter dinner was Kitty (McDonald) Maximiak.  Nice time for all to be together.

Spending Friday to Monday of Orthodox Easter with Mrs. Theresa Kulsicavage was her son, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kulsicavage, Stevens, VA.
Joining them for Easter Sunday dinner was Mr. and Mrs. Ronald
Kulsicavage and Mr. and Mrs. Randy Weaver, all from Dushore.

Tony, Donna and Marie Cikovic, Myerstown, spent the weekend at the Lansberry home on Main Street.

Don't forget the Civic Association sponsored Flea Market on Saturday and Sunday, 10 and 11 June, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.  Mark your calendar.  Maybe you can have a table, sell some of your stuff, look around and buy something you're really interested in.  Refreshments available, sold by the Civic Association.

Happy Birthday to Jack Walsh who celebrates this week.  Birthday wishes also to David Spinosa on the 28th; Paige and Kyler Burke will be 3 on the lst of May; and JoAnn Day celebrates on the 2nd.  Hope you all have a nice day.

I've heard from a number of people that Mr. Bruin is back.  He's been up Dutch Mountain taking down bird feeders and has been up and down Main Street taking bird feeders and smashing burning barrels.  Someone also saw a bear with two cubs, so I guess we're in for some more "devilness" this summer.

Spending last Tuesday and Wednesday with Mrs. Katherine Matychak was Fr and Mrs. Mark Korban and sons, Jessie and Micah, Browningtown, VT.  They were on their way to The Orthodox Monastery, Ellwood City, to visit their daughter, Sister Martha and the Sisterhood.  While there, Fr Korban served at their Easter services.  They returned to VT, from The Monastery, on  Wednesday.  They enjoyed their stay, both here in Lopez, and at The Monastery in Ellwood City.

That's it for now.  Enjoy your week, whatever you do.  It may be shoveling or sweeping snow.  At least with the warmer(?) temperatures, it won't last toooooo long.  Have news call me at 928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at uvbob@epix.net.  I'll put your news in.  I'll be here next time.

April 18, 2006

Getting some nicer weather after some cool morning starts.  Was only 24 degrees early Monday morning, with frost on the ground.  The wind sure does twirl around and get very breezy and cool.  Hopefully we'll get something better soon.  Hope you all had a nice Easter holiday.

Spending some time over Easter with Mrs. Sophie Bundle was Jerry and Sylvia Dempsey, Dover, DE; Patrick Dempsey and friend, Troy, Alexandria, VA.  Sharon Hartnett, Wilmington, DE, and Nan Fedrow, Dushore, also visited while they were here, as did Vince Yudzeky.   Nice time for all to be together.

Sympathy from the community to family and friends of Mike Ball who passed away on Friday.  He lived in Rome, PA, but was originally from here.

Spending Easter with Mrs. Irene Huray was Irene Pequignot, Linden; Shawn, Crystal, Misty and Dylon Pequignot, Muncy; Kevin and Alyssa Pequignot, Williamsport; Mike Bednar, town, and his daughter, Karen Bednar.

Adele Bradshaw is spending some vacation/relaxing time at her home on Church Street.  Dick is also still here for a time.

Gail McGinty, Rosemont, spent some time over Easter here with her
husband, Jim, at their home on Dutch Mountain.

The Civic Association Flea Market will be held again this year.  The dates are Saturday and Sunday, 10 and 11 June.  The time is 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.  Table space available.  First come, first served.  Get your attic, basement, whatever, checked to see what you might not want anymore and bring it to the flea market.  You may also find something else at the flea market that you really do want.  Hope to see you there.  Watch the Sully for further notices, but mark your calendar now.

Happy Birthday wishes to Jon-Paul Matychak on the 23rd; Vic Gulick on the 24th; Katherine Kapler on the 25th; and Mickey (Fedorchak) Mowery on the 26th.  Hope you all have a nice day.

Next Civic meeting will be held on WED., 16 May, 7 p.m. at the Pavilion.

Happy Easter to those of the Orthodox faith  who  celebrate this week with their Easter on Sunday, the 23rd.  Have a Blessed day.

That's the news for now.  Enjoy your week, whatever you do.  Heard the weather is to be nice until Friday and Saturday when rain is predicted.  We do need rain; the fire index is very high; but I'd still rather warm, sunny eather.  Have news call me at 928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at uvbob@epix.net.  I'll put it in for you.  I'll be here next time.

April 10.2006

Wasn't a really bad weekend.  The wind was quite powerful, but Sunday turned out to be a nicer day.  It's still cold early in the morning.  On Monday morning it was only 18 degrees.  It did warm up considerable during the day so that was nice.  I see in a few places that the crocuses and daffodils are popping up so that's a good sign, if the frost doesn't get them.

Joe Anderson, son, Joshua, friend, Mindy, along with friends Victor and his brother, Ross, spent the weekend with Katherine Matychak.  They were four college kids with lots of nice chatter, conversation and fun.  They all enjoyed the
quietness.

Elaine and Allen Costello, Endwell, NY, spent a couple of months in Leesburg, FL.  David and Carole (Fedorchak) Underwood, Melbourne, FL, spent a really nice weekend visiting with them.  Elaine and Carole are cousins and it was nice to get together.

Dorothy and Roy Pirritano, Exton, spent a few days at their home on Dutch Mountain and enjoyed the nice weather.

I see Bill, Jean and Scott Woodford, Windsor, NY, were down at the family homestead for the weekend.  Now that the weather is getting nicer, we'll probably see more of them.

Tyler McGuire, Harvey's Lake, spent Friday and Saturday with his grandparents, Bob and JoAnn McGuire.  His Dad, Bob Jr. picked him up on
Saturday afternoon.  The weather wasn't really nice to spend much time
outside, but he's looking forward to coming back when we get warm weather so he can go to the pond and the creek.

Dick Bradshaw, West Chester, is spending some time at his home on
Church Street.

Julio and Mary Santiago,  Kyra, Keene and Quinn Vinetelli,  Jackson, NJ, spent the weekend with her mother, Kitty Maximiak and all had a nice time while they were here.

Next Civic meeting will be held on WEDNESDAY, 17 May, 7 p.m. at the Pavilion.

Sympathy from the community to the Patson familiy on the passing of Linda's mother, Mrs. Vera Snyder, on April 3rd.  Funeral arrangements
were provided by Pepper Funeral Home, Canton.

Sympathy from the community to the family, relatives and many friends of Frank Borick who passed away last week.  Funeral was held on Tuesday with burial in St. Vladimir's cemetery.  Frank was a frequent summer visitor to the Borick homestead and we will miss seeing him sitting on the porch and taking walks.

On Thursday morning, Bill Killian, Dutch Mountain, saw a bald eagle and a large fish that it had caught and was eating.  He got his video camera to take some photos, but don't know if he got anything or not.  He had eaten almost all of the fish when Bill spotted him.

Happy Birthday wishes to Kristin Anderson who celebrates on the 15th; Carole (Fedorchak) Underwood and Pat (Romania) Burd who both celebrate on the 17th; and Tom Beck on the 18th.   Hope you all have a nice day.

Happy anniversary to John and JoAnn McDonald who celebrate 40 years on the 16th; and Vince and Ruth Yudzeky who celebrate 48 years on the 19th.  Many more to these swell folks.

Want to wish all of you a very blessed and Happy Easter on Sunday.  Hope you all enjoy your time with relatives and loved ones, however you spend your day.  Hope the Easter bunny is good to all the little kiddies.

Guess that's it.  Enjoy your week, whatever your plans.  Have news call me at 928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at uvbob@epix.net.  I'll put yours in.  I'll be here next time.

Wasn't a bad weekend.  Now, it seems winter is trying to come we have to expect that kind of weather knowing where we live and all.   Hopefully it will warm
up soon.

GOOD NEWS.........I guess. Township Supervisor John McDonald has told me that there will be street sweeping in Lopez and Colley sometime in early May.  Yes, you can save the bristles on your broom; the Township will sweep.  Also, he has informed me that there will be dumpsters in Lopez and Colley on the 10th of June.  More information will follow when they know prices, times,  etc.
So, that's another good thing.  You can get rid of that unwanted "stuff" you've accumulated all year.  Watch the Sully for more on this.

Julio and Mary Santiago, Jackson, NJ, surprised her mother, Kitty Maximiak, on Sunday when they stopped by to spend the day with her.  A nice time for all.  Julio and Mary will be celebrating their first wedding anniversary on the 5th.  Congratulations and many more.

Happy Birthday wishes go to Shawn Pequignot on the 6th;  and Jaron Williams will be 9 on the 11th.  Hope you both have a nice day.

Guess that's all the news for now.  Would be nice to have some warm weather stay around so folks can get out and enjoy.  At least we aren't getting what some of the states are getting with the tornadoes, heavy rain, and all kinds of damaging weather.  We can be thankful for that.  Have news call me at 928-9238, mail me, see me, or e-mail me at uvbob@epix.net.  I'll put your news in.  Thanks and I'll be here next time.

Mar 27, 2006

Wow!!  What a beautiful sight on Saturday when we woke up early.  That snow looked so pretty on the trees; was quite heavy but with the temperatures going up pretty good, it was gone in no time.  Sunday turned out to be a nice day.

Got the following e-mail about some birthdays; many, many.  Hope
you all have a great day.

Lots of birthday wishes -- 80 of them -- to Mary Yarosh Nadiak who celebrates on April 5!  And, just 18 of them to her grandson, Jeff Nadiak, who also celebrates on April 5.  And, while we're at it, Happy Birthday to Ellen Nadiak, mother of Jeff and daughter-in-law to Mary, birthday wishes on April 12.  And, then, we have birthday wishes to Jill Gurdak, daughter of Ellen and granddaughter of Mary, who will be 28 on the 18th!!!  Makes it easy to remember the month of birthdays!!!!!

While we're on birthdays, Trevor Kinsey celebrates his 7th on the 30th.  V Rev Gary Matychak celebrates on the 5th of April.  Have a nice day all.

Don't forget to set your clocks AHEAD one hour Saturday night before you go to bed.  I like that "Spring Ahead" idea.  Makes for a nice, bright day for a longer time.

Jim and Barbara Craig, Media, were finally able to enjoy the weekend at their home on Church Street.

That's it.  I'm sure with the weather starting to get nicer there will be more folks out and about.  Enjoy your week, whatever you may do.  Have news call me at 928-9238, mail me, see me, or e-mail me at uvbob@epix.net.  I'll put your article in.  I'll be here next time.
